François Chauvet

Chairman and Chief Executive Officer

François is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of FUNDCLASS since 2007, and Founder, Chairman and CEO of APTimum Conseil since 1995.

Prior to that, he founded and led Europe Egide Finance as CEO from 1990 to 1995.
Between 1986 and 1990, he worked in market finance at Crédit Chimique and later at BUE. From 1977 to 1984, he was in charge of management control at UTA.

He is a certified actuary and has been a member of the Institut Français d’Actuariat since 1993.

Academically, he holds a Doctorate in Economics from Université Paris I – Panthéon Sorbonne (1981), a Master’s in Operational Research from Stanford University, USA (1976), and is a graduate of École des Ponts et Chaussées (1975) as a civil engineer.

Karim Jacquelin

Consultant, CFA, FRM, GFR

Karim has specialized in the Investment Risk Management practice for over 15 years.
He started his career as a Risk Manager at Indosuez Luxembourg and joined APTimum in 2010 where he supports and advises APT clients.

Karim is also actively engaged in academia. He serves as a Visiting Lecturer at IAE Nancy since 2022 and at Université Paris Dauphine-PSL since 2019. His teaching focuses on Risk and Portfolio Management.

Karim holds a Post Graduate Program in Financial Markets and Econometry from Queen’s University in 2007, and he completed a program in Financial Markets from NEOMA Business School in 2007.

His commitment to both industry and academia showcases his dedication to the field of market risk management.

Jean-Hugues Lasbatre

Consultant

Jean-Hugues has been working as a Consultant at APTimum within the FCI division since 2020. Before joining APTimum, he contributed to operational research at CPR AM – Amundi from 2019 to 2020.

In 2018, he worked as a VBA Developer at Caceis Bank in Paris, focusing on securities lending and borrowing.

He earned his engineering degree in 2019 from ESILV, where he specialized in finance.

Raheel Muhstaq

Consultant

Raheel has been working as a Consultant at APTimum since 2020. In 2019, he was part of Allianz Global Investors – Risklab, where he contributed to Quantitative Investment and Risk Strategies. That same year, he earned a Master’s degree in Applied Mathematics (MMMEF) from Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne.

He is a highly skilled professional with a strong specialization in developing advanced analytical and computational solutions. His expertise spans quantitative modeling, risk analysis, and algorithmic development. Raheel is proficient in programming languages and has extensive experience with data processing, machine learning, and numerical optimization.

He excels at translating complex mathematical concepts into robust, scalable tools that support data-driven decision-making in finance and beyond.

Mourad Aunay

Consultant

Mourad has been working as a Consultant at APTimum since 2023.

He holds a Master’s degree in Financial Analysis and Asset Management from IAE Nancy School of Management, completed the same year.

Eugène Barkalov

Lead Software Engineer

Eugene is a Lead Software Engineer at APTimum with nearly two decades of experience delivering high-quality software solutions in the FinTech industry.

He specializes in architecting scalable systems and building robust, distributed applications tailored for financial risk analysis and portfolio management.

Before joining APTimum in 2022, Eugene spent over eleven years at FIS Global — one of the world’s largest financial technology providers — where he played a key role in the development of core software products used by 30+ institutional clients worldwide. His contributions ranged from building API frameworks and risk analytics tools to delivering client-specific solutions, such as reporting platforms for major private banks.

Eugene is a well-rounded technology professional with deep expertise in software engineering, DevOps (including CI/CD pipeline automation), system design, and technical writing. His work reflects a consistent focus on software quality, performance, and maintainability. Eugene holds a six-year engineering degree in Computer Science from Kyiv Polytechnic University, one of the most competitive technical institutions in the region.
